1945 - 2012

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Raymond George Venables announces his passing on Monday, August 20, 2012 in Marysville, British Columbia at 67 years of age.

Ray was born on June 14, 1945 and raised in Coronation, Alberta. Ray fell in love with Carol "my 1st wife" who was also raised in Coronation, and they were married there on August 4, 1967. They moved to Marysville, in 1990 and have resided there since.

Ray was the facilities attendant at the College of the Rockies, and really enjoyed working there. He retired from the college in 2010. Ray always looked forward to the summertime, when he and Carol would go camping in their motor home with relatives and friends to different spots in BC and Alberta. He enjoyed sitting by the camp fire playing his 'loud' music - which became a camping tradition over the years!

Ray is survived by his loving wife Carol of 45 years; his dog Tiffany; sisters Rita (Stan) Nelson of Stettler and Betty (Bill) Banwell of Coronation; brothers Don of Red Deer, Cecil of Red Deer and Brian (Karen) of Calgary; mother-in-law Eva Whitnack of Marysville; sister-in-law Diana Carnahan of Marysville; brothers-in-law Larry (Brenda) of St. Albert and Ken (Joanne) of Marysville; and lots and lots of wonderful nieces "little fat girls" and nephews; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Leona Venables, brother Delmar, three nephews and his father-in-law Edward Whitnack.

A memorial luncheon for Ray will be held on Saturday August 25, 2012 at 11:00 am at McPherson Funeral Home in Kimberley. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Ray may do so to the: Canadian Cancer Society, 19 - 9th Avenue South,
