David passed away peacefully at home with his wife at his side on Sunday, December 31, 2006. Dave was born on December 18, 1940 in Cranbrook. He is survived by his wife, Sharon; son Steven (Trish) & children, David, Aaron and Dayna; daughter Patti-Ann (Dave) & children, Nickolas, Kyla, Austin & Dalton; brother, John (Sheree); sister, Dorothy (Pee Wee); sister-in-law, Pat, niece Corine (Rick) and girls: as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce and his parents, Kathleen and Nick.Dave had a great passion and love for his family. He enjoyed working on the farm and going hunting and fishing. Dave lived all his life in Cranbrook and was a great advocate for his community. He worked for the Cranbrook Fire Department as the Fire Prevention Officer for several years. He was a very organized man and served on numerous community boards and committees. Dave was involved in the Cranbrook Rotary Club for a great number of years and volunteered with the ambulance service for 26 years. Dave was the organizer for many charity functions and was well known as founder of the annual "Santa Ride". Dave was the founder of Idlewild Park as well as the Wall of Honour. He was also named Citizen of the Year for Cranbrook. In 1977 Dave received the Queen's Community Involvement Award, the highest honour bestowed for community involvement. He will be greatly missed by his family, his friends and his community.A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the Cranbrook Alliance Church. Donations in Dave's memory may be directed to the Hospital Auxiliary.
