1925 - 2013
The family of Harry Macdonald Coutts wishes to announce the passing of their beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the Kimberley Special Care Home.
Harry was born in Kerrobert, SK on April 27, 1925 and grew up in Olds, AB. Harry joined the army at an early age and served 22 years in the Canadian Armed Forces. He married Ruth Coutts and had 5 children. Harry then married Dora Thompson while working at Fording Coal at Elkford, BC. At the time of his retirement they retired in Nanaimo, BC until the time of Dora's passing. He later moved to Sicamous, BC and then married Evelyn Bissett. They enjoyed many years of traveling. After the time of Evelyn's passing Harry moved to Joseph Creek Care Village in Cranbrook, BC. At the time of his passing he was at the Kimberley Special Care Home.
Harry was a veteran of two wars; WWII and the Korean war. Harry was very proud of his many years of military service and had devoted relationships with many people he served with. His sincere love for animals and support for the Legions of Canada were very important to him.
Harry was predeceased by his parents Benjamin Coutts and Susan Coutts (nee Taylor); his siblings Albert Coutts, Archie Coutts, Gordon Coutts and Gerry Coutts; his wives Ruth Coutts (nee Laird), Dora Coutts (nee Thompson) and Evelyn Coutts (nee Bissett) and his daughter Shirley Ruth Coutts. Harry is survived by his sister Margaret Isenor (Coutts) of Calgary, AB and Norman Coutts of Milk River, AB; his children Robert Coutts (Betty) of Saskatoon, SK, Norma Harrisson-Meyers (Dennis) of Parkside, SK, Kenny Coutts of Raddison, SK, and Jim Coutts (Sharon) of Elkford, BC as well as 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service and luncheon for Harry will be held at 11:00 am at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #105 (5241 - 46th Street , Olds, AB) on Thursday, November 7, 2013. He will laid to rest after the service in the Olds Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Harry's honour to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch of your choice.
