Margaret Saliken (Chernoff)

It is with great sadness we announce to passing of a great wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Margaret Saliken (Chernoff) surrounded by her family and friends on September 20, 2006, after a short battle with cancer.

Marg was born on December 7, 1937 in Winlaw, British Columbia. She is survived by her husband John of 46 year, son Stan (Trish) and daughter Karen Kolinsky, mother Polly Chernoff, sisters Nellie Konklin, Helen Kootnikoff, Barb (Bob) Ward, six grandchildren Kaila, Brenden, Tommy, Tasha, Chase and Mitchell, one great-grandchild Chloe, several nieces and nephews and their families.

She was predeceased by her father William Chernoff in 1987, grandson Nathan Kolinsky in 2002 and son-in-law Blair Kolinsky in 2006.

Marg enjoyed many challenges throughout her life. She worked at Woolworth's in Nelson until the family moved to Cranbrook in 1974. There she worked for Cranbrook Photo for several years. Marg lived life to the fullest & loved the camping trips to Mexico every winter where she enjoyed doing many things, especially fishing and the long quad trips through the desert. She also loved her gardening, greenhouse and intricate woodworking. She was famous for her annual yard sales. Marg loved having company and spending time with her friends. You never left her house hungry, especially when there was a pot of her famous borscht on the stove. No matter what, she always wore a smile and will always be a flower in bloom, sadly missed by all her family friends.

There will be an open house to celebrate Marg's life at the family farm at 4905 Mission Road, Cranbrook, British Columbia on September 30, 2006 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

At Marg's request there will be no funeral.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society 19-9th Ave. S. Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 2L9.
