Obituary of Marie Laure Chandonnet

At the age of 86, Marie passed away peacefully at the F.W. Green Home, in Cranbrook, British Columbia on October 6, 2006.

A faithful wife to Jules Chandonnet, loving mother to Guy, Michelle (David) Diamond and Silvie the youngest, devoted grandmother of Dario Herrera (Silvia Rivas) and Carmen Sofia Herrera. She will be missed by many, as she was very active in the community. She dedicated approximately 35 years to the Eagles in various capacities. Marie was one of Cranbrook's favourite escort attendants for the Steele Days "Sweethearts". She volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Diabetes Association as well as several other worthy causes over the years. Marie enjoyed playing bridge and cribbage and won several awards for her skill.

Marie was born in St. George, Beauce County, in the Province of Quebec, November 30, 1919, where she was raised and educated as a teacher. In word and in deed, Marie was truly a lady.

She was predeceased by her husband Jules in 1978 and son Guy in 1997.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Reception Room at McPherson Funeral Home, 2200 2nd St. S, Cranbrook, British Columbia on Monday October 23rd, 2006 at 2:00 pm, followed by interment at the Westlawn Cemetery.

A Tea in Marie's honour will be given at 4:00 pm, location to be announced following the service.

Guests are asked to please refrain from using perfumes or aftershave

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society 19-9th Ave. S. Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 2L9 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Kimberley & District Branch, Box 33 Kimberley BC V1A 2Y5.
