Please share a memory of Stanley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Stan Bednarczyk of Cranbrook passed away peacefully on October 17, 2006 at the age of 82.

Stan was born in Poland and came to Canada in 1946 after serving in World War II. Shortly after coming to Canada, he moved to Radium. He worked as a gravel truck diver in the construction of the highway through Kootenay National Park, worked in the construction of the hot springs complex in Radium and other jobs in the area. He later built and operated the first motel in Radium, then known as the Valley View Motel. He was married in 1960 to Stella, also a Polish immigrant. Together, they built and operated the Park Motel in Radium, where they had their only son, Richard, in 1968. Stan and Stella moved to Cranbrook in 1998 to be close to their son and family to spoil their most precious grandchildren. Stan loved the outdoors and spent many hours hunting and fishing in the Kootenays.

Stan is survived by his son Rick and daughter-in-law Kendra and their two children Darynn and Ryan. He also leaves his sister Helen (Jan) Jarowicki, and brother Martin (Kazia) all of England, along with many nieces and nephews in England and Poland.

Stan was predeceased by his loving wife, Stella in 2000, and his siblings Joseph, John, Mary and Kathy.

Prayer service to be held at McPherson's Memorial Chapel on Sunday, October 22 at 7:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be at Christ The Servant Church on Monday October 23 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Thank you to Dr's Rolandi and Mustafa and all the nurses and staff at the hospital for their kind care during this tough time.
