My full time teaching career started at Parkland School. Basil was one of the teachers that I worked with in the Industrial Education/Tech Ed Department. He was an excellent mentor, a lot of fun, and he absolutely loved the kids - he had such a good way with them. He had a level head on his shoulders, was wise, was able to correct and guide me is a professional way - I learned a lot from him. I had the pleasure of crossing paths with him throughout my career, as well as after his retirement. Every meeting with him, every one, was positive and uplifting. He definitely enjoyed his retirement, it was very sad that he was taken so soon after he retired. Even now, almost every time I drive by his house I fondly remember him.

Basil came to live with my family in 1965 and stayed for about 6 years. Over all the years since then he was a wonderful friend to my parents and after my Father died such a help to my Mother. I will always be grateful for his kindness to her. My sincere sympathy to all the family. His death is such a loss to all of us.

Dear Margie and Norman and family,We can't begin to tell you how sorry we are to hear that Basil is gone. We know that you will miss him terribly.I remember Basil mostly from your wedding many years ago. He was my escort and he was such a gentleman! You have spoken fondly of him so many times over the years that I know you have many good memories. I only wish he had had more years to create more.Thinking of all of you.Love,Laurie and Denis
