Obituary of Hazel Elizebeth Wells

Passed away Wednesday August 22 at the age of 86. Hazel was born Erickson, B.C April 15 1921, to Melton and Daisy Beam. She grew up in Creston, B.C. She moved to Climax, SK and married George Wells Dec 13 1937. Together they operated a farm and raised their family for over fifty years. Later she moved to Shaunavon for several years and ultimately to Cranbrook where she has lived for the last three years residing at Joseph Creek Village. Although Hazel was not active in clubs and committees she was a strong member of the community who always had time to talk to a friend in need or make a hearty meal for those who passed through her door. Her interest in horticulture was passed on to her children and their children. She has gone on, but the seed she has sown and the plants that she has grown will live on into the future in our hearts and in our gardens. Hazel is survived by her children: Freda (Emil) Flexhaug of Steinbach, MB, Ted (Linda) Wells of Spruce Grove, AB,Tom Wells of Kelowna, BC, Kathy (Sterling) Quennell of Cranbrook, BC, Mike (Delee) Wells of Saskatoon, SK, former daughter-in-law: Sue Wells of Tofino, BC, siblings: Zane Beam, Jessie Johnson, Iris Wiens, Bruce Beam, Bob Beam, uncle: Nick Rhodes, aunt: Nellie Mortimer as well as 15 grand children (spouses) and 21 great grand children. She was predeceased by her husband George, her parents Melton and Daisy, brother Harold (Lefty) Beam, one grandson and one grandaughter. At Hazel's request no service will be held, a private interment will be held at a later date in Creston, BC. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
