(nee Caputo)

1921 - 2010

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rosina Maria, our beloved mom, grandma and nonna on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the age of 89. She went peacefully in the grace of the Lord surrounded by her family.

Rosina was born on March 28, 1921 in Mendicino, Cosenza, Italy, the first child of Antonio and Carolina Caputo.

In January 1940, she married Francesco Greco, the love of her life. Both worked very hard running a small family business for over 40 years in their hometown in Italy. When her dear Francesco passed away in Italy in 1996, she joined the family who had emigrated from Italy to Cranbrook, British Columbia in 1959.

She was predeceased in Italy by her father Antonio, her mother Carolina, her husband Francesco, her brother Luigi (Emma) in the Bronx, New York and by her sister Angelina (Raffaele).

She is survived by her only son Vincent Greco and daughter-in-law Lina of Cranbrook, British Columbia, grandson Frank Greco and great grandchildren Jeremiah and Josiah of Cranbrook, British Columbia, grandson Anthony (Madeleine) Greco and great grandchildren Gabriel, Alexander, Benjamin and Angelina of Calgary, Alberta. Also surviving are: brother Domenico (Nella) of Kleinburg, Ontario, sister Elena (Salvatore) of Mendicino, Italy, brother Vincenzo (Gina) of Cerisano, Italy, sister-in-law Emma Caracciolo of Cosenza, Italy and brother-in-law Raffaele Porco of Bronx, New York. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends here in Canada, the United States and in Italy.

Mom was a very gentle, modest and tender-hearted lady. Her strong faith in the Lord gave her the necessary courage, skills and strength to deal with life's adversities, and her on-going health issues. The Lord was always top priority in her life, but she was also very devout of the Virgin Mary. Her daily prayers and the recitation of the Rosary were a special time and a daily commitment in her life. We will always cherish in our hearts the wonderful memories and the happy times spent together. Mom, grandma, nonna, we will miss you dearly.

The family would like to express their special thanks to Dr. Joe Kotlarz, Dr.'s Cecile and Greg Andreas, Dr. Post and Dr. Hugo for having taken such good care of Rosina. Our deepest appreciation and heartfelt thanks go out to the wonderful and caring staff at Joseph Creek Care Village.

A sincere thank you to all our friends and relatives for their support and kindness and prayers. We love you all.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Rosina's memory.

Rosary and Prayers will be held at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook, British Columbia on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 7:00 pm. Rosina's funeral mass will take place on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 11:00 am, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cranbrook, British Columbia.
