Obituary of Fred Bernard Jackson

After a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease, Fred passed away on September 10, 2007 at Joseph Creek Village in Cranbrook, B.C. at the age of 78.
Fred was born August 22, 1929 in Meacham, SK. He came to B.C. in 1952 and married Lorna later that year. Fred worked for Cominco, was in the Kimberley Fire Department and drove ambulance in Kimberley as a volunteer. He was a Special Constable with the RCMP in Campbell River and Cranbrook. He became a Deputy Sheriff in BC in 1974. Fred loved music and played mandolin and harmonica. He also loved to go the all the dances at the Cranbrook Senior's Hall. Fred enjoyed sports and never missed a Kimberley or Cranbrook senior hockey game. Fred took pleasure in buying and trading cars, for which he was well known in this area. He was also known for his wonderful sense of humour.Fred is lovingly remembered by his wife Lorna of 55 years of marriage; daughter Judy Ann and her husband Jake, Chemainus, BC; son Bruce Jackson, Calgary, AB; granddaughter Melinda White (Trevor), Campbell River, BC; grandson Travis White, Courtenay, BC and grandsons Michael and Richard Jackson, Calgary, AB. He will also be sadly missed by his sisters Nadia (Rod) Rivinius, Sun City, Arizona, Maria Fletcher, North Burnaby, BC, Betty (Art) D?entremont, Regina Beach, SK; his mother-in-law Dorothy Shannon, Cranbrook, BC, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Larry and Marlene Shannon, St. Mary's Lake Rd. BC, sister-in-law Lynda Shannon (Zoi Sallans), Lethbridge, AB and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing and visitation Thursday September 13, 2007 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at McPherson's Funeral Chapel, Cranbrook. Funeral Services will be held on Friday September 14, 2007 at 1:00 pm also at McPherson's Funeral Chapel, Cranbrook, Myra Farquhar officiating.
