Obituary of Wendy-Jo Maki

Please share a memory of Wendy-Jo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
After a courageous fight, Wendy-Jo Maki (nee Pentland) died suddenly and peacefully on September 11, 2007, at the Cranbrook Regional Hospital. We'd like to thank her caring medical team, particularly Val, in the Oncology dept."Jo" is survived by her devoted husband Don, her remarkable children Emily James and Liam John, her loving sisters Catherine, Alison and Alex, and her green-eyed lab, Millie. Born and raised in Calgary, Jo was an accomplished teacher and passionate about early education, fairness, justice, loyalty and inclusiveness. She could also be counted on to enjoy good wine, conversation, a full-hearted-snorting-belly-laugh along with her award-winning corned beef. Don and Jo forged their own path, drawn to intimate places including Windermere and Cranbrook where they connected themselves deeply to family, friends, work and their environment. We will be celebrating Jo's life on Sunday, September 16, at Idle Wild Park (3379 9th St. South, Cranbrook) starting at 11 am. Family and friends will be invited to continue the celebration at the Armstrong's home immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers and donations, contributions to a scholarship fund for their children will be appreciated. Details to follow.
