Born: JANUARY 25, 1939 HODONIN, CZECHOSLOVAKIA Passed: SEPTEMBER 12,2007 CRANBROOK, B.C. Mira immigrated to Yellowknife, NWT in 1949 with her mother, Mira. She moved to Bralorne, B.C., in 1962. Here she met Scotty, her future husband. Scotty and Mira moved around in B.C., working and living in Vancouver, Prince George, Smithers, Hazelton, Crescent Spur, Burns Lake, Terrace and finally settling in Cranbrook in 1979. Mira belonged to and held positions in various clubs and organizations including Abreast in the Rockies Dragon Boat Team, the SPCA, North Star Ski Racers, Kitsumkala Ski Racers, Pony Club and various other horse clubs, Professional Business Women's Association, 4H Club, and Big Foot Runners. She volunteered in several B.C. Summer Games and was a race official in the 1988 Calgary Olympic Games and the Kootenay Ice Fan Club. Mira also organized and ran a golf tournament every year for the Kootenay lce Hockey players and their billets. Mira is survived by husband Allan (Scotty), mother, Mira (aged 91 years), son Kenneth Leroy (wife Leanne & grandchildren Meka age 21 and Scott age 17), sons Roderick and Allan (grandchildren Mykenzie age 10 and Kennadie age 9), daughter Sheila, sister Xenia (Donovan, Maria, Meika), sister Nancy (husband Arnett & children Carl and Annie), and brother Roy (wife Phyllis & children Sarah, Charlie and Katherine).Mira was predeceased by father Bohumil Mica and stepfather, Charlie Sanders, mother-in-law Cissy, and father-in-law, Roddy. Mira worked mainly in banking, ending her career as a Loans Manager at the East Kootenay Credit Union. She was also an aerobic and weight lifting instructor. She was passionate in her love of family, horse riding around Gold Creek, walking her beloved dogs around Elizabeth Lake, and billeting hockey players. In the past 15 years, Mira and Scotty provided a home away from home for 47 Junior Hockey players. Mira and Scotty were the Senior Canadian Ride and Tie Champions for several years in the mid 1980's. She was the Senior Big Sister of the year for Western Canada and was so honoured in Toronto. Mira was loved and admired by all who knew her and will be missed by family and her many friends. In lieu of flowers, Mira and her family would encourage you to donate to the charity of your choice.A Memorial Service for Mira will be held on Friday, September 21" at Christ the Servant Parish, 1100 14th Avenue South at 2 PM.
