Born in Port Carling, ON to Elmer McDermott and Alice (Hurst) McDermott on October 26, 1936, Ray passed away peacefully at the Cranbrook Regional Hospital on October 2, 2007. The end of his journey here on earth - a new beginning in that final resting place, especially prepared by his Lord and Saviour, that anticipated day of spending eternity with Him. Ray was married in 1958 to Patricia Vanclieaf in Bracebridge, ON. He was an avid hockey player in his younger years. His team won the Ontario Championship in 1952-53. Fishing was one of his favourite pastimes. Ray was a member of the I.B.E.W., and worked as a lineman. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Patricia and their four children: Susan (Ross) McCoy of Milk River AB, Sandra McDermott of Kimberley, BC, Barry (Marie) McDermott of Genelle, BC and Todd McDermott of Jaffray. He will also be remembered by the eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren that Ray loved and doted over.
