Obituary of Gary Lynn Gates

On or about the 15th day of December 1943, Gates, Gary Lynn was born in Claresholm, Alberta. After high school and 18 years in the Stavely area, Gary made his way to the big city of Calgary. In a short time he made the transition from farmer to police officer. Sgt Gates had a rewarding 25-year career in the Calgary Police Service, but in the end he felt the perpetrators of unlawful acts were feeling too stressed. He retired to where he had spent many of his off duty hours, in God's Country (Kimberley), where allegedly the fish trembled at the sound of his name.Dearly missed by wife Norma, daughter Tracy of Kimberley, son Bryan Gates of Calgary. Grandchildren, Jesse, Kylie, & Megan of Kimberley. Brothers, Dorlan (Margaret Ann) Gates of High River Alberta, Wes (Helen) Gates of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.Also numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Predeceased by parents Harold & Marjorie Gates, Step-father Alvan Wilson, and brother/ friend Clark Gates.A memorial/Celebration of Gary's life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 2 P.M. at Centennial Hall, Kimberley B.C.
