Obituary of Yvonne Anne Pighin

Yvonne passed away peacefully in the Calgary Foothills hospital on July 18, 2006 at the age of 82 years. Yvonne was born on November 19, 1923 in Spirit River, Alberta to Eugene and Roseanna Dion. Yvonne went to school at the convent in Peace River, graduated and went on to nurses training in Calgary. During the war Yvonne worked at the ammunition factory in Winnipeg, and also at a chocolate factory.

In April of 1948, Yvonne came to Cranbrook and met Robert Pighin and later they married on October 18, 1948. They started their family in 1950 on the Fort Steele farm, and later moved to the West Highway. 

Yvonne had a love for family and friends and always enjoyed the many get togethers. She was a busy homemaker taking care of her husband and raising six children on her own after his passing.

Her flaky apple pies, sticky cinnamon buns and home made bread will never be matched!! Berry picking was her joy and gardening her passion. 

Yvonne was predeceased by her father Eugene, mother Roseanna, sister Beatrice and husband Robert.

She is survived by her immediate family, sons Gary (Joanne) Pighin, Maurice Pighin, Norman (LeeAnn) Pighin, Ron (Marisa) Pighin, daughters Judy (Harold) Kriese, Patsy (Wayne) Marcer. She is also survived by her sisters Jeannette Perra, Annette Perra (Romeo), brothers Maurice (Jean) Dion, Norman Dion, Roger (Therese) Dion.

She is also survived by her grandchildren Lori Kriese, Troy Kriese, Stacey Pighin (Adam Hedman), Darren Pighin, Krista (Neil) Featherling, Tyler Pighin, Rose-Anna Marcer, Travis Marcer, Robert Pighin (Traci Lawrence), Brent Pighin, Brandon Pighin, great grandchildren Nicholas Haskovich, Grace Kriese, and numerous nieces and nephews.
