Obituary of John Windley Reynolds
On November 27th. Mr. John Windley (Jack) Reynolds of Kimberley, B.C., died peacefully at the age of 88 years.
Born August 3rd, 1919 in Nottinghamshire, England, he came to Canada with his returning parents as a very young child. He graduated from the University of Alberta as a mining engineer in 1942 and served as an engineer officer with the 4th Canadian Armoured Division, through Northwest Europe, discharged from the Active Service force in 1946 he settled in Kimberley for an engineering career at the Sullivan, retiring as the Superintendent of Technical Development in 1984.
He enjoyed contributing to his community in many ways, chiefly with his militia service where, as commanding officer he was able to coordinate military training with community requirements for roads, bridges and the T-Bar on North Star Hill. He retired from the militia as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1966.
He is survived by three sons, Cajo Kooy of London, England, Kris (Dee) of Sechelt, BC and Michael of Vancouver, BC, two grandchildren Colin (Jerian) of Vancouver, BC, Dorothy (Gary) of St. Albert, AB, three great-grandchildren and his sister, Betty.
He was predeceased by his wives, Dorothy in 1948 and Mimi in 1989 and his younger brother Bob in June of this year.
Funeral Services will be held at All Saints Anglican Church, 520 Wallinger Ave., Kimberley, BC on the 8th of December at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers those wishing to remember Jack may make a donation in his name to a charity of their choice.
