Livio Cimolai

Obituary of Livio Cimolai

Livio passed away peacefully at home with his wife Rita at his side. They were married for 56 years. Livio and Rita had three children, Lucy, Roy (Lesley), Dario and grandchildren Lena and Dante. Livio was raised in Vigonovo, Italy and survived a POW camp in Dresden, Germany, escaping to Italy. Livio and Rita married in Italy and immigrated to Canada, arriving in Kimberley November 14, 1955. A skilled tradesman, Livio had little trouble finding employment in Kimberley. Livio retired as a machinist for Cominco in 1984. Leaving Cominco did little to slow Livio down, keeping himself and Rita busy with large vegetable gardens and many duties as a machinist and builder for friends and family. Very few were turned away when asking Livio for creative solutions and assistance. Livio was predeceased by his parents Rosa and Felix, his brother Pietro and his sisters, Ermalina and Maria. Although Livio was a crusty character, he will be lovingly remembered as a hard working, trusting and dependable man.Livio was not a teacher, yet friends and family learned greatly from him through the knowledge he passed to us. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 on Thursday January 10, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Kimberley, BC. A private interment will take place at a later date. Those wishing to remember Livio with a donation may do so to a charity of ones choice.
