Obituary of David Allan Priore

Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On January 12, 2008 Dave passed away at the age of 68 at the Cranbrook Regional Hospital after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Trail, B.C., on August 2, 1939, the first born to Hilda and Louis Priore who predeceased him in 1985 and 1986 respectively. At the age of 21 Dave took his apprenticeship training at Cominco in Trail as a machinist, later working as a tool and dye maker. He moved his family to Elkford in 1971 to work at Fording Coal, eventually becoming Superintendent for mine maintenance at Green Hills. After 34 years he retired at the age of 54 and in 1994 moved to Cranbrook to enjoy golf and fishing. Many long warm winters were spent with his wife in Hemet, California where they golfed, took walks and enjoyed the companionship of visiting friends and family. Dave was an active outdoorsman with a flare for organizing large social gatherings for family and friends. His secret sauce was legendary, his deep fried turkey was spectacular and everyone who knew him requested his canned rainbow. Dave is survived by Shirley, his wife of many years, son Randy, daughter-in-law Connie, son Kerry and fiancée Robin, grandchildren Jesse, Rory, Chelsea and Kelli, brother Larry and wife Sydney and nephews Dean and Bradley of Prince George, sister Nancy of Duncan and many relatives in Trail B.C., As husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and fishing buddy, the big guy will be deeply missed. A memorial service to celebrate the fullness of his life will be held Friday January 18, 2008 at 1:00pm at the McPherson Funeral Chapel in Cranbrook B.C. Cremation to precede the service. Family and friends are invited to gather following the service for refreshments and remembrances of his life in the Refreshment Hall of the McPherson Funeral Chapel. The family asks that in lieu of flowers those wishing to remember David may make a donation in his name to the Cranbrook BC, SPCA: 3339 Hwy 3&95, Cranbrook BC V1C 7B2.
