Obituary of Charles Gordon Matthews

Charles Gordon (Red/Tex) Matthews died January 26, 2008 in the Foothills Hospital in Calgary following complications from heart surgery.

Gordon was born March 8, 1930 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and came to Kimberley with his family in 1944 where he has resided until his death. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Faith, his daughter Lynn Steele and her daughter Amber, his son Brian Matthews and his wife Kim their daughter Chelsea, Camille and Carling. He is also survived by his brother Melvin and his wife Arvella and their families, his many nieces and nephews and by Faith's extended family.

Gordon was predeceased by his parents, William and Minnie Matthews, his brothers Clarence, Wesley, Wilfred, Stanley, Marvin, his sisters Eva, Vera and Mayzie and by his first wife Thelma Matthews.

A memorial service will be held at the Kimberley United Church on Tuesday February 5th, at 3:00 pm with Reverend Jeff Seaton Officiating. Gordon's Family were honoured to donate his corneas for transplant and tissue for medical research.
