November 21, 1929 - July 29, 2008

It is with much sorrow that the family of Bob Wheeler announce his peaceful passing at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta July 29, 2008.

Bob was born on November 21, 1929 in Edgerton Alberta, the son of Hollis "Slim" (1900 - 1984) and Helen (1905 - 2002) Wheeler. In the early 1930's Bob's family moved to Cranbrook. Bob's love for cars started with his dad, and after completing high school, Bob went on to Calgary to attend business school. He later returned to Cranbrook to work with his dad at Wheeler Motors. After Wheeler Motors was sold, Bob took on the Texaco Bulk Plant. Bob was a well-respected businessman. When Bob retired from the Bulk Plant, he assisted his wife Tommy (Davidson) with the bookstore. Bob also worked on the School Board for many years, and opened new doors for the mentally challenged. Bob retired from his work adventures in 1986, and he and his wife Tommy took up many travelling adventures. Bob was a member of the Lion's Club and J.C's. Through these clubs he helped give back to the community of Cranbrook. Bob had a wonderful sense of humour and made many good friends in Cranbrook over the years.

On July 29th, 2008, Bob went to join his son Kenneth, daughter Maureen Currier and both of his parents.

Bob is survived by his wife Tommy of 56 years, son Doug, daughter Karen (Joe) Bombard, sisters Audrey (Norm) Ratcliff, Donna (Don) Fletcher, grandchildren: Garth (Lisa) Currier, Tamara Currier, Jenni Currier, and one great grandson Massimo Currier, his nieces and nephews: Holly Ratcliff, John Ratcliff, Kerrie (Andy) Anderson and Scott (Nancy) Fletcher. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.

A funeral service for Bob will be held on Tuesday, August 5th, 2008 at McPherson Funeral Chapel in Cranbrook at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Westlawn Cemetery.
