Sarah passed away peacefully at The Pines Special Care Home on March 11, 2008.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 64 years, Jack, in 2000, a son, John (Daywin) in 1967, grandchild, Craig, and great grandchild, Brandon Jack.
Sarah will be sadly missed by her five surviving children, Bonnie Masich, (Cranbrook), Linda (Bob Manning, Vancouver), Darlene (John Bjorn, Kimberley), Rod (Joanne, Vancouver), and Joy (Cory Todd, Kimberley). She also leaves to mourn many grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many neighbours and friends.
Born on Leap year February 29, 1920 in Athabasca, Alberta, Sarah was the fourth of thirteen children of Horace and Albina Bergeron. One sister, Teresa (Ken Lofts, Claresholm) and two brothers Lloyd (Alice, Ladysmith) and Roy (Edmonton) also survive her. Sarah will be especially remembered as a wonderful and caring mother and friend. Her short career as an LPN was a great accomplishment for her and she always showed great compassion for everyone she met. She was an excellent seamstress, a gardener, decorator, knitter and needleworker. She loved golfing, skiing and horses, picnics, platzl music and baking. Her huckleberry and peach pies were legendary. Her friends were the "forever" kind and she delighted in remembering them on special occasions.
Memorial services will be held at the McPherson Funeral Chapel in Kimberley on Sunday, March 16th at 1:00 pm with Bill Gooding officiating. The Pines, where Sarah spent the last several months of her life, would be happy to receive donations on her behalf.
