Obituary of Ida Volk

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our MOM Ida Volk, on March 11, 2008 at the Kimberley Pines Special Care Home.

Ida was born in Cranbrook, British Columbia on August 5th, 1913 to Mary Jane and John Lancaster who owned the Peerless Dairy. Ida was predeceased by her husband, Tony Volk in November 1999, her infant daughter Sharon in 1937, her son Robert (Bob) Foster in 1969 and grandson Robbie in 1963. Ida was the last living sibling of the family.

She was predeceased by brothers, John, Fred, Gordon, Harry and sisters, Mary and Lil. Ida is survived by her Loving Children, Larry (Barb) Foster, Steve (Anita) Foster, Bill Volk, and daughter-in-law Laura Volk, Sheila (Brian) Macklin and Baron Foster, Grandchildren, Clayton Foster (Valynda), Marjorie Wilder (Peter), Shannon Fisher (Greg), Bobbi McDonald (Mark), Michael Brogden (Cari), Melanie Mercier (Chad),Gerald Volk, Great-grandchildren, Shailynn, Jacqueline, Rebecca, Ashley, Megan, Ryan, Kiersten, Curtis,Ty,Cal and Colton.

Ida graduated highschool at the age of 15, and attended business college right after graduation to become a legal stenographer. Through her lifetime she worked as a legal stenographer, a court stenographer, typed books for authors, and later on took her training to be an LPN, which she loved. She worked for many years in the St. Eugene hospital and also in the Cranbrook Hospital. Ida and Tony lived in Marysville for 50 years and then she moved to Joseph Creek after Tony passed away, until she could no longer manage there and she moved back into the Kimberley Pines Care Home where she was very well looked after. Ida enjoyed being an Avon lady for 25 years and made many friends and won lots of awards. Ida was an active member of the Marysville Community Church, the Marysville Hospital Auxiliary, a School Board Trustee, P.T.A.. She loved to bowl and won many pins and awards. She always had home baking for everyone who dropped in for tea.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March, 17th at 2:00 pm at the All Saints Anglican Church in Kimberley, British Columbia with Reverend Canon Derrick Smith officiating. Cremation will precede the service
