Obituary of Gregory Allan Reay

1954 - 2009

Greg Reay of Kimberley, British Columbia passed away September 23, 2009 after a short struggle with cancer at the age of 55.

Greg was born in Calgary, Alberta on February 12, 1954 and many of his friendships today were from his school days in Calgary. He met his wife Joanne during those early years and they moved to Nelson, British Columbia for a 5 year period with both of their sons born there prior to returning to Calgary in 1981. Greg worked most of his career in Roof Truss Manufacturing, retiring from Nascor in 2007 at the age of 53 to spend his retirement years doing what he loved most, fishing. Greg, with his family moved to Kimberley, British Columbia and he was able to enjoy 2 years living his dream of fishing the many lakes and rivers in the area. Greg's passion for fishing was as strong as his family values, therefore he surrounded himself with family and friends during his many fishing and camping trips. His dog Sasha became his shadow and fishing buddy during the rare occasions he couldn't find a fishing partner for the day. Greg had the belief that anyone who fished was a friend and he often would compare fishing stories with any guy at the next fishing hole.

Greg will be remembered for his quiet strength and his easy going attitude. Greg is survived by his loving wife Joanne; 2 sons: Marty Reay of Calgary and Duane (Amanda) Reay of Kimberley; grandson Lucas; 3 brothers: Gerald of Kelowna, Stephen (Rose) of High River, Gary (Susan) of New Brunswick; and his sister Judy (Lyle) McGregor of Calgary.

He was predeceased by his parents: Matthew John Reay and Dorothy Alice Reay (nee Borup).
