1937 - 2009

Walter Joseph Walls died suddenly on Monday, October 19, 2009 at age 72.

A wonderful brother, husband, uncle, life companion, and friend he will be deeply missed. Walter's love of life was filled with spontaneity, fun, and a deep love of his family and friends. His generous spirit was known all over Cranbrook, when he built an outdoor ice rink each year for kids all over town. He and his wife Margaret always had dozens of pairs of little skates for tiny future NHL hockey stars.Walter was happiest surrounded by his family and friends, and his beloved TV clicker to follow any and all sports on TV. He loved to travel and could often be found in Canada or the USA. Walter worked most of his life for BC Department of Highways and he and his wife Margaret lived in many towns in B.C., before settling in Cranbrook.

Walter was born in Fernie, BC on June 10, 1937. Walter was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret and his parents, Cecilia and Lambert. Walter is survived by his loving brother Ken Walls, his sister Bernadine (Doug) Merrick, his nieces Deanna Rainey of Kelowna, and Cindy Baker, Tonya Walls, and Jennifer Walls from Texas. He is also survived by his nephews Allan Merrick of Kelowna, Troy Walls from California and Mitchell Walls from the Lower Mainland. He is also survived by Sheldon Schwindt, his son and Janina Kubos, his life companion.

The service for Walter Walls will be held on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 11:00 am at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook (2200 - 2nd Street South). Refreshments will be served onsite immediately following the service. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
