Manfred "Fred" Brunisholz passed away suddenly in Cranbrook, British Columbia on December 7, 2008 at the age of 81.

Manfred was born July 4, 1927 in Albligen, Switzerland to parents Frederick and Emma Brunisholz. He is survived by Vreneli Brunisholz his loving wife of 54 years; Clifford (Pamela) Brunisholz; Sylvia Smalley (Gerry); Marina Rallison (Edward); four grandchildren: Dillon, Ryan, Christopher, Sherry; and a brother Roland Brunisholz of Switzerland. Manfred was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Emma Brunisholz. Manfred was a true outdoors man. In Switzerland, he enjoyed hiking, mountain climbing and skiing. Shortly after arriving in Canada, in 1952 Manfred went to work in the forest industry. He loved to be outside, and for many years enjoyed all that nature had to offer. Manfred also had a deep interest in history. He and his wife Vreneli loved to visit the many historical sites here and abroad. Among his favourites, were Fort Steele Heritage Park, Barkerville, British Columbia and especially the Black Hills of South Dakota. Manfred also had a deep passion for collecting antiques which he continued well into his later years. His favourite collectables were Antique Bottles, Chinese Pottery and Licence Plates. Manfred loved his wife of 54 years deeply and shared a loving relationship with his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.

A funeral service for Manfred will be held on Friday, December 12, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Cranbrook located at 2200 - 3rd Street South.
