We are not 'supposed' to have favorite patients but Al was by far one of ours. Everyday we saw him he was always there with a quick smile, a funny joke or story and his infectious laugh. We loved having him here and though we knew he would have rather been in his garden or out fishing he never complained. He was ever the gentleman, always thoughtful and kind. He spoiled us with flowers and treats on special occassions and every Saturday when he would bring himself something from the bakery to have during his run, he always brought two for the nurses to have as well. This small gesture illustrates the type of man he was; generous, caring, and well loved. We will dearly miss our 'Bigfoot' and hope that you, as his family find comfort during this difficult time. You are in our prayers, God bless, the Dialysis Nurses

I just heard of Al's passing today, and cannot make the funeral. He was such a good friend for the 7 years I worked with him in Cranbrook. After work, there was fishing, hunting, cross country skiing, and the odd beer. A proud "Irishman", I always tried to call the big leprechaun on St. Paddy's Day and toast a green barley. Al will be missed but never forgotten.
