Obituary of Avril Lobban

Avril (Jenks) Lobban was born on February 19, 1929 to Ellen (Aldrich) Jenks and Jim Jenks, sister to Rex and Bill Jenks. Avril passed away peacefully at the age of 79 on July 1, 2008 in the Kimberley Pines Special Care Home.

Avril was born in Del Bonita, Alberta. She settled into Kimberley when she was thirteen and found her best friend Verna Gelling-Lloyd. Avril shared many storeis of growing up with love and laughter in her family. Avril was quite artistic but never persued her talent. At the age of 21 she married Dick and they started their family bringing six children into the world. She worked very hard to make a good home for her husband and children, even going so far as to warm up towels and the children's pyjamas in the oven after a bath on cold winter nights so her children would be warm and cozy. She always thought of the little things to make her family comfortable. She loved to laugh and was never at a loss for words.

Avril is survived by her husband Dick, her five children, Bill (Pat) Lobban, Terry (Steve) Swann of Kimberley, Patti (Norm) Jordan of Cranbrook, Marilyn (Shane) Amy of Kimberley, Richard (Dina) Lobban of Cranbrook, grandchildren, Sandi (Scott) Carson, Jillian and MacKenzie Lobban, Aaron and Mike Swann, Kristin and Rob Jordan, Jenny Lobban, Jacklyn and Jessie Amy, Wayne (Katy) Lobban, Blair, Randy and Nick Lobban, great-grandchildren, Jordan Carson, Camryn and Kalle Lobban.

Avril was predeceased by her father Jim Jenks May 16th, 1955, her mother Ellen Jenks September 10, 1988, brother Ed Jenks October 16, 2005 and son Rodger Lobban October 18, 1986.
