Cynthia Hills passed away peacefully at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital with family by her side on December 11, 2008.
Cynthia was born in Burnley, Lancashire, England on February 24, 1921. After graduation from high school, Cynthia went on to many other pursuits. In 1942, she enlisted in the CWAC. She served out of the Canadian Military Headquarters in England and attained a rank of Sergeant. After the war she attended Queen's University and played on the Queen's Hockey Team. She was also an accomplished athlete. She won provincial championships in golf, tennis and badminton in the 1950's. After her schooling, Cynthia worked in accounting and was also a commercial traveller. She had a lifelong passion for horses, and was well known in Atlantic Canada in the harness racing circuits.
Cynthia is survived by her brother Bill Hills as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Harry and Marion Hills; siblings: Eric Hills, Marjorie Hills, Betty Hills and Enid Hills.
