Obituary of Joan Carley

 Born: February 28th, 1933

Passed away peacefully at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital on January 28th, 2009.

Joan was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed teaching French. She was an enthusiastic and experienced skier, loved animals, the outdoors and cooking. Joan was a hockey fanatic who always supported the Vancouver Canucks. Joan was born in Montreal, Quebec to Mary and Howard Church.

Joan is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Ian, and her three children: Sean (Toronto), Sara (Vancouver) and Jill (Cranbrook). She is also survived by her sister Nancy Gullett (Kelowna), and brothers: Peter Church (Chilliwack) and Michael Church (Airdrie).

In celebration of Joan's life, the Carley family invites her caregivers, nurses, friends and family to an open house, at the family home, on Saturday, February 7th between 4 and 6 pm.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the: Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, 175 Bloor Street E., Suite 700, North Tower, Toronto, Ontario, M4W 3R8.

The Carley family would like to thank Dr. David Lenz, who went beyond the call of duty in caring for our family. We would also like to thank the Interior Health nurses and Home Support staff who did much to help Joan through a difficult illness. Finally, the Carley family would like to extend a sincere thank you to our friends and family for all their support over the years.
