It is with great sorrow that the family of Andrew Drobot announce his passing on February 9, 2009 at 73 years of age. Andy was well known in the area as a great athlete playing hockey with the Lethbridge Native Sons, Cranbrook Selkirks, East Kootenay Rams, Nelson Maple Leafs and Cranbrook Royals. Andy also played ball with the Swanson's Men's Wear Team and soccer with the Cranbrook Rovers. After his playing years, Andy was involved in coaching with Cranbrook Minor Hockey. Andy retired from Cominco in 1995 after a lengthy career underground at the Sullivan Mine. In his later years, Andy spent his time on the golf course, in his garden, spending time with family and as a season ticket holder and avid fan of the Kootenay Ice. His trips to White Swan Lake with Alan, Vic and the boys were also a big highlight. Andy will be fondly remembered for his big heart, great sense of humour, quick wit and endless antics, as those who knew him can attest to. He will be dearly missed.

Andy is survived by his loving wife Lynne of 50 years; sisters: Bernice (Art) Corneluson of Revelstoke, Priscilla (Gordon) Straub, Pat (Dave) Phillips, Judy, Debbie (Crawford) Law, all of Cranbrook; children: Mark (Carol), Lorna (Mike), Melody, Jennifer (Don); grandchildren: Bobbie (Ryan), Jason, Shauna, Chelsea, Kurtis, Nicole, Terra; as well as nieces and nephews and the family dog Dekoda.
