Obituary of Martha Flick

1927 - 2009

It is with much sadness we announce that our mom, Martha Mary Flick, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2009 in Cranbrook, British Columbia at the F.W. Green Memorial Home, where she had been a resident for the past six years. Mom was born on April 24, 1927 at the Teigen farm, near Robsart, Saskatchewan. She lived a very active life in Cranbrook for over 50 years. Mom had a real zest for life and an inquisitive mind. She loved to play cards and shared the fun with her children and grandchildren. Bridge was her game! Mom also loved taking photos…..she earned quite a reputation with her camera. Mom travelled to many different parts of the world over the years: Israel, Egypt, Europe, Hawaii and Norway, which was her favourite. Mom was a dedicated registered nurse and worked at the St. Eugene Hospital and the F.W. Green Memorial Home. Mom is survived by her three children: Denise (Grant), Daryl and David; grandchildren: Christopher (Nova), Joel (Scott), Patrick, Anthony and Acaia; great grandchildren: Ciara, Nataya and Lily; sisters: Ema (Nan) Wilson, Olga Hogg, Ina Palmer, Edna Berhman; brother: Sigurd Brekhus ; and many nices, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Al; her parents: Olaf and Olina Teigen; John and Gudve Bakken; brothers: Gordon, Haaken, Gilbert, Harold, Philip; sisters: Ester, Lucile, Margrethe and Hanna; and a niece: Betty Love. Mom's Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Cranbrook United Church at 2:00 pm.

The reception will follow at the Viking Lodge. In lieu of flowers, Martha's family would like to plant a garden in her memory at the Green Home. Memorial contributions in honour of Martha may be made to the: F.W. Green Memorial Home, 1700 - 4th Street South, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 6E1.
