Obituary of Jessie Smyth
Born: March 29, 1923
Passed Away: March 8, 2009
It is with great sadness that the family of Jessie May Smyth announce her passing on March 8, 2009 at 85 years of age.
Jessie came to Canada from England in February of 1952. She was a Legion member for 41 years. Jessie liked to camp, knit, crochet, travel, spend time with family, watching television, collecting movies and was a long-time Trail resident.She was known as Nanny by all who knew her.
Jessie leaves to mourn her passing, two daughters: Brenda (Norman) Detta, Doreen (Geoff) Davis; 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild born March 9, 2009; sister: Audrey (in England); plus numerous family members in Canada and England.
She was predeceased by her husband Thomas (June 1985); daughter: Margaret (Henry) Van Groen (February 13, 1991); son: David Smyth (November 23, 1998); 4 grandchildren; brothers: Albert, Arthur and Bert; sisters: Dorothy, Annie, Kathleen, and Alice.
Thanks to the staff at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital, Michael Hayes and Drs. Rolandi and Brown. A memorial service for Jessie will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #11, in Trail, British Columbia, on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 11:00 am. Her Interment will take place in the Fruitvale Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations in honour of Jessie may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #11, 2141 Columbia Avenue, Trail, British Columbia, V1R 1K8.
