It is with great sorrow that the family of Louisa Maud Battram announce her passing on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 87 years of age. Louisa served her birth country in World War II and came to Canada as a war bride. She was a loving wife, mother, teacher, mentor and best friend. She was an eternal optimist who brought out the best in everyone. Louisa taught people to "pay it forward" and lived life by the golden rule.
Louisa is survived by her daughters: Gail (Richard) Ballance of Cranbrook and Jo-Anne (Larry) Johnston of Lloydminster, Alberta; grandchildren: Lisa (Ken) Grant of Calgary, Alberta, James Malone of Wainright, Alberta, Christopher Johnston of Lloydminster, Alberta and Angela (Perry) Symes of Oyen, Alberta; great grandchildren: Chandler Johnston, Jordan, Garett and Miranda Symes and Devin and Cale Grant.
A funeral service for Louisa was held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Christ Church Anglican. Memorial donations in honour of Louisa can be made to the: Palliative Care at East Kootenay Regional Hospital, 13 - 24th Avenue NorthCranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 3H9, or the: East Kootenay S.P.C.A., Box 2, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 4H6.
