Obituary of Richard Blanchard

1946 - 2009

Mr. Richard Blanchard of Cranbrook B.C, beloved husband of Patricia Blanchard and father to Wade Blanchard passed away suddenly on Sunday April 19th, 2009 at their home in Cranbrook.

Rick was born on November 2nd, 1946 in Toronto to Joyce and Frank Blanchard. They moved to Bowness in Calgary in 1947 and then to Lethbridge in 1963 where Rick's father started up a Shaver Appliance Repair Centre. Rick went into the family business in 1970 and they expanded the business to three locations. Rick met Pat Cole in 1967 and they later married in Hawaii. Rick and Pat moved to Tie Lake in 1989 operating the Cranbrook outlet of SARC Repair until they retired.

Richard is survived by his wife Pat, son Wade (fiancé Heather Montgomery), mother Joyce, sisters Cathy Jestin, Sue Blanchard, Jacqui (Jim) Pascoe and Candace Pollock, brother in law Barry Cole, niece Kelly (Richard) Williams, nieces Brooke, Samantha and Haylee and nephew Benton.

Rick was predeceased by his father Frank, niece Stacey Stotz, nephews Troy and Darcy Stotz.

Rick enjoyed spending time with his loving wife and visits with Wade and Heather. He had a great love of the outdoors enjoying many long summer days at their home at Tie Lake with family and friends. Upon retirement, Rick and Pat spent their winters together in Mexico sharing wonderful times with their good friends.

A Celebration of Richard's Life will take place in the North Hall of their gated community called Terra Lee in Cranbrook BC on April 25th at 3:00 pm.
