Harold Leslie Johnson (AKA Trapper or Snap)

August 18, 1926 - July 5, 2009

Harold passed from this life peacefully with his loving wife by his side after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born in South Lochaber, Nova Scotia to Lydia Stewart. He grew up around Economy and Five Islands areas. He came to Cranbrook in 1968 followed shortly by his family. He lived in the East Kootenays for the remainder of his life even though he had plans to move back to Nova Scotia the place he called home. Harold loved the outdoors. He successfully made his living in the forest industry, only recently retiring from a local ranch.

He will be remembered by his loving and caring wife Betty; his 4 daughters: Shirley (Dennis) MacAloney of Cranbrook, Diane (Dale) Stevens of Red Deer, Rose (Garry) Bjarnason of Sparwood, and Charlene (Ray) Dubois of Coquitlam; 2 sons: Alden (Kim) Johnson of Cranbrook and Albert (Shelly) Johnson of Cranbrook; 1 daughter-in-law Trudy (Brian) Clifford of Cranbrook, 4 step-daughters, 7 step-sons, 20 grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as 5 sisters and 5 brothers who all reside in Nova Scotia.

Harold was predeceased by his first wife Irene, mother of his children, his second wife Patricia, his son Geordie Johnson, and 2 grandsons Shawn Johnson and Danny Bjarnason.

A private celebration of life will be held at McPherson's Funeral Home on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 10:30 am. Interment to follow at a later date.
