1935 - 2009

It is with great sadness that the family of Henry Williams announce his sudden passing in Cranbrook at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital on July 4, 2009 at 73 years of age.

He was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on September 22, 1935, to Bill and Mary Williams. Henry started work with Huttons Ltd in Lethbridge. In 1957, he married Arlene Faulkner and their family was started one year later with the birth of their daughter and then three sons. In 1971 Henry moved his family to Cranbrook to manage a new store for the company. In the 80's he joined the team at Ackland's until his retirement. Henry was a very avid bowler and an active person both with his family and the community. Most notably with the 5 pin Bowling League and an active supporter of the Youth Bowling League to encourage young and upcoming bowlers. He was proud of achieving a perfect game in his lifetime. In Lethbridge he was a very active member of the Independent Order of Foresters and continued his membership while living in Cranbrook.

Henry is survived by his wife Arlene, four children: Karen of Cranbrook; Kerry of Vancouver; Todd of Courtenay; and Shane (Lori) of Cranbrook; seven very special grand children: Tanya (Graham), Michael, Christopher, Michelle, Jessica, Sara, and Ashley, which were his pride and joy. His first great grand-daughter; Kayleigh, was born just 5 days before his passing and he was able to hold her; he also was gifted with two additional grand-children Kayla and Candace who are a very special part of his family. He is also survived by his sister Ivy Dunlop of Edmonton, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout Alberta and B.C.

Henry was predeceased by his mother Mary, father William, baby sister Karen and brother Bill. A funeral service for Henry will take place at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow at the Eagles Hall in Cranbrook. There will be a private family Interment. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in honour of Henry may do so, in lieu of flowers, to the: Cranbrook Youth Bowling League, c/o Juniper Lanes, 1400 - 4th Street North, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 3L5 to help sponsor local youth in sports or to the: East Kootenay Regional ICU Department, 13 - 24th Avenue North, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 3H9.
