1924 - 2009
It is with great sorrow that the family of Thomas Walter Bradford announce his passing on Monday, July 20, 2009 in Cranbrook, British Columbia at 85 years of age.
Tom was born March 26, 1924 in Carruthers, Saskatchewan. His family moved from Carruthers to Skookumchuck, British Columbia in 1938. Tom enlisted in the Canadian Army at 17 years of age and saw action from North Africa to Italy. Upon his discharge from the Army, Tom returned to British Columbia and made his home in Cranbrook where he worked as a contract logger, operated a gold mine, and drove dump trucks. Tom and Ivy loved their many trips, especially the ones to the casino.
Tom will be lovingly remembered by Bob Ruault (Barb), Venie Webster (Jim), 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, his sisters Joyce Johnston and Mary Douglas, his brothers Phillip Bradford (June), Dennis Bradford (June) plus numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his companion of 65 years Ivy Ruault and by his brothers Gerald and Baron.
A funeral service for Tom will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 11:00 am at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook. His Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery.
