Phyllis passed away at the Pines Special Care home on Sunday, August 9, 2009.

She was born in Victoria, B.C., and moved to Kimberley with her family when she was 8 years old. They lived for some time at the original Top Mine until they moved to their home on 4th Avenue when Cominco built the McDougal Townsite subdivision.

Phyllis was well known for her kindness as she was always helping out or sending baking to her family, friends and neighbours. Her favourite interests were camping, fishing, bird watching, gardening and wild animals.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband John, her parents Syd and Marguerite Smith, and her sisters Ruth Chesham and Ivy Louden.

She is survived by son Wayne (Lindis), granddaughters Cori Trinder and Terri (Mark) McKinlay and great granddaughter Rylee and Sydney McKinlay and Carly Trinder.

At her request there will be a private graveside service for immediate family only.
