1932 - 2009

Darlene, beloved wife of George Pelton, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 29, 2009 in Cranbrook, British Columbia at 76 years of age.

Darlene was born on the homestead outside Lintlaw, Saskatchewan to Lloyd and Phoebe Foster who in 1940 moved to the sunny Okanagan. Darlene attended the Penticton High School and graduated in 1950. In 1952 Darlene married George who barbering took them first to Kimberley and finally to Cranbrook where they opened George's Barber Shop and raised their family. Darlene loved people and valued her time as a volunteer. She spent many hours at the Brownie Hall, teaching Sunday school, helping with the local figure skating club, canvassing for charity, meals on wheels, helping Dawn with school activities and working with the gals at the hospital auxiliary thrift store. Darlene will be remembered by many for operating the Lad and Lassie Children's Wear Store.

Darlene leaves behind her loving husband and friend of 57 years, George Pelton; daughter Dawn (Rob); son Lloyd (Lavon); granddaughters Lindsay, Haley, Nicole; sister Sharon (Larry) Lund; nephew Erik (Stephanie), niece Stephanie (Jason); brother-in-law Tom (Sharon) and their families and special companion Lexi. Darlene will be missed by all her good friends made through the Jaycees and Gyro Clubs and the "Girls from Bridge". Darlene looked forward to spending sunny afternoons with her family and friends at Moyie Lake, but mostly she cherished her wonderful moments with the lights of her life: Lindsay, Haley and Nicole.

A celebration of life for Darlene will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Cranbrook United Church.
