Obituary of David Honeyman

1918-2009

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Dick Honeyman on September 13th, 2009 at the age of 91 after a brief illness.

Born in Glasgow Scotland on June 11th, 1918, Dick came to Kimberley in 1919. Dick was an inspiration to all through his devotion to family, keen wit and intellect, and exceptional ability to stay engaged and excel in many activities, including curling, golf, and skiing well into his eighties. Dick had a natural curiosity and believed firmly in keeping the mind and body active. He had a lifelong love of the outdoors and pursued many outdoor activities, including hiking and fishing. At 90 he bought his first computer and became an active web citizen. Dick was a long-time Cominco employee of 42 years.

Dick will be missed dearly and lovingly remembered by his wife Edith of 68 years, daughter Linda, son Robert, grandchildren Monique, Christopher, Terry, Yvonne and Harlee and great-grand daughter Stella. Dick is survived by his sisters Betty Smith and Margaret Lukas, many nieces and nephews, and sisters-in-law Dale Honeyman and Joan Honeyman.

Dick was predeceased by his son David James, his parents and six siblings.

A graveside service will be held at Kimberley Cemetery on Friday, September 18, 2009 at 11:00 am. To celebrate Dick's life, there will be a gathering for family and friends on Friday, September 18th, 2009 at 2:00 pm at 4 - 103rd Avenue in Kimberley.
