1912 - 2009

It is with great sorrow that the family of Albert Fast announces his passing on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 97 years of age at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, British Columbia.

Albert was born March 13, 1912 at Greenfarm, Saskatchewan. He wanted to join the army but was not accepted because of poor feet. He was told that teachers were needed. He taught for 18 years in various towns in Saskatchewan. After moving to British Columbia in 1958, Albert worked for his brother Ernie for 1 year, but then went back to teaching. He taught in Garabaldi, Surrey and Kimberley for another 12 years. He became a realtor and later moved to Abbotsford in 1971. He did a lot of wood working, owned a Door Shop and built many pieces of oak furniture for our family.

Albert is survived by his children: Wally (Juliette), Rick (Mary), Gwen (Jake), Lorna (Jim), Barb; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; his sister Mary as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Lydia, son Ray, granddaughter Jodi, sister Ella, brothers: John, Ed, Ernie and Dan.

A funeral service for Albert and Lydia will be held at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 11:00 am.
