1926 - 2009

It is with deep sadness that the Moulton family announce Ivan's passing on October 11, 2009. Ivan was born June 30, 1926 in St. Boswell, Saskatchewan to Elmer and Annie Moulton. In his teens he worked in Lang, Saskatchewan shovelling wheat, and at the Drake Hotel as a bellhop. On October 12m 1948, her married Gertie (Baber) his loving wife of 61 years. Together they had 5 children. Barrie, who predeceased Ivan in 2001 (Debbie), Myrna, Tim (Marilyn), Lorri-Anne and Kelly. Ivan also leaves to mourn his passing, his 6 grandchildren: Aaron, Kimberley, Tyrell, Amanda, Corly and TJ; as well as two great grandchildren: Clayton and Tayor. Tired of farming, they bought Hi-a-watha Motel in 1968. Ivan ran the gas pumps, garage and diesel pumps, while his wife cooked the daily specials and various other foods which became many a trucker's favourite spot to eat. Ivan was involved with the Fraternal Order of Eagles for many years holding many official positions including president. He enjoyed curling and won many prizes. He also liked fishing. Fishing is like memories; the goods one you keep, the bad ones you discard.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ivan's memory to the BC Chapter of the Kidney Foundation. At Ivan's request there will be no funeral. Those wanting to join Ivan's family in a celebration of his life may do so at the Eagles Hall in Cranbrook on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 7:00 pm.
