Obituary of Megan Merchant

1936 - 2009

It is with great sadness that the family of Megan E. Merchant announces her passing on October 14, 2009 at the age of 73.

Megan Elizabeth Evans was born in Dibden, Purlieu, England, the eldest of 3 children. She married Robert John Merchant on August 4, 1956 and moved to Canada shortly after. They moved to the B.C., Coast and later to Grand Forks where they were blessed with 3 children: Brett, Cheryl and Andrea.

In 1964, the family moved to Cranbrook. Bob and Meg had many happy years raising their children in the Cranbrook area. She enjoyed getting to know her customers through her employment with many retail businesses. Meg enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed working in her gardens and greenhouses and enjoyed the outdoors.

Meg was predeceased by her loving husband Bob on December 13, 1994. Meg is survived by her children: Brett (Cathie) Merchant, Cheryl Magis (Bruce Healey) and Andrea (Jim) Fugina; grandchildren: Justin and Ashlee Magis, Amissa and Jessica Merchant, Alexa and Mynoondjiie Fugina; her brother Clive Evans and sister Jill Angus.

A private memorial service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to: His Hope Uganda Ministry, 1200 Kootenay Street North, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 5X1.
