Obituary of Betty Ruth Falke

1924 - 2009

Betty Ruth Falke passed away peacefully November 16, 2009 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital, three weeks short of her 85th birthday.

She was born December 10, 1924 in Washington, Nebraska. She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons: David (Carolyn) of Omaha, Nebraska, and Dale (Cecillia) of Kimberley, British Columbia; daughter Sheri (Miles) Anderson of Fir Mountain, Saskatchewan; grandchildren: Jeremy (Sherry), Allyson (Eric), Patrick, Michelle (Gerry), Everett (Shera), Lindsay, Quinn (Keith), Carlee (Rick), Tori and Kacy; great grandchildren: Lauren and Julia; step grandchildren: Paula (Keith Jr.) & Carlie, Brett (Angie) & boys, Bruce (Michelle) & Madison, sister- in-laws: Delores Schuchart and Nancy Falke; brother-in-law Bob Schuchart and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Dwain "Bud" Falke in 2006, her parents Peter and Anna Thompson, brother Raymond and sister Madeline Atkins, brother-in-laws Marvin Falke, Horace Sifuentes and Donald Atkins and sister-in-laws Marjean Sifuentes and Holly Thompson. Betty grew up on her family's farm in Nebraska. and attended Teachers College at Wayne, Nebraska. While teaching school she met and married Bud and eventually the two of them took over the farm where they worked side by side as they raised their family. In January of 1970 they moved to the ranch on Cherry Creek where they started another chapter of their life, working together to build up the place they both loved. After selling the ranch and retiring in 1989, they enjoyed RV travelling throughout Canada and the U.S. living in the 5th wheel in various areas including Wasa for a number of years before buying a house and moving to Kimberley in 2003.

Two years ago Betty moved in Garden View Village where she resided at the time of her passing.

A funeral service for Betty will be held at McPherson Funeral Home in Kimberley, British Columbia on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 1:30 pm. Her Interment will follow in the Kimberley Cemetery.
