Obituary of Donald William Bens
April 23, 1938 - January 22, 2010
It is with great sorrow that the family of Donald Bens announces his passing on January 22, 2010.
Don was born in Macklin, Saskatchewan and attended school in Cudworth, Saskatchewan prior to the family moving to Creston, British Columbia. Don met his wife Rosie in California in 1980 and they married in Calgary, Alberta in 1981. Rosie and Don resided in Cranbrook over 20 years.
Don leaves behind his loving wife Rosie; son Daryl; daughters: Patricia and Paddy; grandchildren: Sara, Curtis, Ryan and Quinn; special friends Winnie and Ben Husiman, Tina and Rick Paley (and the girls) as well as his beloved Banjo and Chi Chi and many friends and neighbours. Don was the president of crime stoppers, and enjoyed garage sales playing cards and games, as well as finishing carpentry and car racing. Don also spent many years as a marriage commissioner.
A Celebration of Don's life will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2010 between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm at 632 - 18th Avenue South in Cranbrook. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution in his honour may do so to the: East Kootenay Hospital Foundation, 13 - 24th Avenue North, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 3H9.
