It is with great sadness that the family of Connie Graf announce her passing on March 16, 2010 at the F. W. Green Memorial Home in Cranbrook, B.C., at the age of 86.

Born in Dodsland, Saskatchewan on Dec 11, 1923 Connie was raised and took her schooling through grade 12 in the town of Stranraer, Saskatchewan where her father owned a grain farm and had a machine shop where he also sold machinery. Following grade 12, Connie graduated from Normal School in Saskatoon in 1941. She moved to British Columbia in 1943 to teach at the Bull River Bridge School where she met her future husband Fred Graf, they were married in August, 1945. She taught at Michel, B.C. in 1944 and at the Central School in Cranbrook in 1945. In 1946 Connie and her husband Fred moved to Wardner, B.C. where they started their family and she taught school for several more years. After her family had grown, she started teaching school in Jaffray, first full-time, and then as a substitute from 1979 until 1985. She was an avid golfer, curler and in later years, she became a talented painter as well as the RDEK Area C representative from it's formation in 1972 through 1986. In 1991 her husband Fred passed away, Connie continued to reside in their home in Wardner until 2003 when she moved to Cranbrook, B.C.

Connie is survived by her son Christopher (Christine), grandsons Christopher Jr. and Donovan, daughters Lucinda (Mike) McMullen, grandson Robert, Sylvia Graf (Rick), Susan (Mike) Colbert, granddaughter Charlotte, grandson Greg (Katie) and great grandson Dustin, brothers Harry Rowbotham of Calgary and Peter Rowbotham of Rosetown, Saskatchewan. Connie is predeceased by her husband Fred Graf in 1991, 3 brothers Bill, John and Brian and sister Pauline. Connie will be remembered fondly by her many friends.

 

A memorial service for Connie will take place on Saturday, March 20th at 1:00 pm at the McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook with Reverend Jack Lindquist officiating. A brief graveside service and reception will follow. In lieu of flowers donations in honour of Connie may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon,Cranbrook Unit, #101, 105-9th Ave. South, Cranbrook, B.C. V1C 2M1.
