Obituary of Irving LeRoy Proctor

1926 - 2010

Mr. Irving LeRoy Proctor (Roy) known by many as "Uncle Roy" of Cranbrook, British Columbia passed away peacefully at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital on Tuesday, March 30, 2010.

Roy was born on July 2, 1926 in Vancouver, British Columbia and the family later moved to Yahk, British Columbia. Roy served in the navy from May 1945 until he was discharged in 1946. He returned to Cranbrook where he worked with his parents at Proc's Service for 17 years. He then went back to university between 1962 and 1968 where he attained a degree in Commerce and his Masters in Business Administration. Roy worked for the Federal Government in Ottawa from 1971 to 1981 and further in Saskatoon until his retirement in 1993. After his retirement he returned to Cranbrook. Roy's passion in life was playing the piano, barber-shopping with Baker Street and singing with the Kootenay Harmony Chorus. Roy loved to go fishing when he wasn't enjoying entertaining others with his group of cherished musical friends.

Roy touched the hearts of all who knew him and he will be lovingly remembered by his nieces Nada (Rolf) Zenger of Switzerland, Leanna (Frank) Spring of Cranbrook and their three daughters Devon Trenchard, Kylee and Talus Dougall; his nephews David (Linda) Birch of Cranbrook and their three children Chad, Chelsea and Krista Birch, Randy (Jay) Birch of Calgary and their daughter Coral Birch as well as two great great nephews Braden and Liam Trenchard. He will also be sadly missed by the Spring family of Cranbrook. Roy was predeceased by his parents Irving and Laura Proctor and his sister Shirley Birch.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 11:00 am at the McPherson Funeral Chapel in Cranbrook. Cremation preceded the service. Those wishing to remember Roy can do so by donations to the: Canadian Cancer Society, 19 - 9th Avenue South, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 2L9.Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
