It is with sadness that the family of Ayako Kanayama announce her passing on April 6, 2010 in Cranbrook, B.C. She was born on December 7, 1915 in Vancouver, B.C.

Left to cherish Ayako's memory are: one son, Akira (Betty) Sugihara of Cranbrook, BC; step son, Mitsuo (Mary) Kanayama of Kamloops, BC; step daughter, Sachi Kanayama of Penticton, BC; brother, Mynn (Kay) Mukaida of Hope, BC; sister, Chieko Yano of Hope, BC; grandson, Brian (Nahoko) Sugihara of Cranbrook, BC and great grandsons Cody and David; step granddaughter, Jovelyn (Vincent) Laurel of Vancouver, BC and great granddaughters, Jonevi and Venice; sister-in-law, May Mukaida of Aldergrove, BC as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

It was Ayako's request that no service be held. Interment will take place in Ocean View Burial Park at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Joseph Creek Village and Joseph Creek Care Village as well as the staff of East Kootenay Regional Hospital for the kindness and care. Special thanks to Dr. Dawson and Dr. Chan.
