Obituary of Joseph Charles Selby

1936 - 2010

It is with great sorrow that the family of Joseph Charles Selby announces his passing on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 in Cranbrook, British Columbia at 73 years of age.

Joe was born on June 27, 1936 and obtained a B.A.Sc. (Mechanical Engineering), P. Eng, M.B.A. and M.A. Economics. In 1978 he found his passion teaching business administration at East Kootenay Community College, now College of the Rockies. Other passions in his life included his family and friends, canoeing, kayaking, and motorcycles. He was never concerned about what people thought about him but was more concerned for others. He will be greatly missed.

Joe is survived by his wife Louise; children: Sherri (Patrick O'Reilly), Mike (Tracey), Cathy Huska (Curtis); step-children Lyle (Monica), Karen King (Lloyd), Karl, Ben (Pam) Dunn, brother Jack (Brenda); and 16 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father William and mother Lillian.

A memorial service for Joe will be held on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 11:00 am at Christ The Servants Roman Catholic Church located at 1100 - 14th Avenue South in Cranbrook. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a scholarship in his name at East Kootenay Community Credit Union (920 - Baker Street, Cranbrook, BC, V1C 1A5).
