1936 - 2010
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Ernest Friesen announces his passing after a brief battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 in Cranbrook, British Columbia at 74 years of age.
Ernie was born in Shell River, Manitoba on February 12, 1936. After his retirement from the Department of highways, he worked part time for Jepson Petroleum. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to go out hunting and trapping. Ernie, along with his brother and friends, enjoyed sharing their musical talents and entertained at many senior's functions in Cranbrook.
Ernie will be dearly missed by his loving wife Florence; his step-son Ken Betenia; step-grandson Justin; his brothers: Henry Friesen "Clem", Pete (Mary) Friesen, Raymond (Pat) Friesen; his sister Edna Charzewski; sister-in-law June Friesen and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Margaret Friesen; son Gary; brother Dave; sisters: Tina, Agnes and Anne.
A funeral service for Ernie will be held on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in honour of Ernie may do so to the: Palliative Care Ward at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital, 13 - 24th Avenue North, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 3H9.
